About

'Allar Haola Tea Stall' is a small wood-and-tin tea stall at Mokambazar in Giasnagar union, Moulvibazar Sadar. Its owner Abdul Wahid (49), known in the market as Baul Wahid, used to sing with the 'Polli Baul' troupe. When singing could not support his family he turned to the shop; for about five years he has served tea with rice powder and maize powder, and customers have grown ever since. The menu includes 'Girlfriend Golapi Malai Tea', 'Breakup Modhu Malai Tea', rice-powder, maize-powder and sesame-powder teas, coconut-milk tea, brown milk tea, special raisin tea and maize coffee-tea; teas cost Tk 10 to Tk 150 and milk is Tk 40 a glass. The special malai teas blend rice and maize powder with honey and nuts. The stall opens every day from evening until midnight and sells Tk 5,000–6,000 a day, with customers coming from Sylhet city and beyond.
