About
Ashraf Uddin of Batajor Gilachala village, Kachina union, Bhaluka, lived in Singapore from 1997 to 2022. Back home he first grew dragon fruit and lemons, then bananas on about 80 decimals; he also keeps a five-cow farm in his yard. Inspired by YouTube, and after a 10-day course at the Mushroom Development Institute in Savar arranged by the agriculture office, he has grown mushrooms since December 2025. About 700 packets fill two rooms in his yard; from an investment of Tk 15,000 he sold Tk 30,000–35,000 worth in three months. Fresh mushrooms sell at Tk 200 and dried ones at Tk 1,200 a kg. He sells to shops, street stalls and pakora stalls himself and also takes them to Dhaka; his mushrooms are found in Dhaka super shops and local markets. His twin sons, in class eight, help him.
