স্নাতকোত্তর শেষে ২০০৬ সালের পর থেকে কৃষিকাজ করছেন আলতাফ হোসেন। নিজের ১০ বিঘা ও বর্গা নেওয়া ১৫ বিঘা মিলিয়ে ২৫ বিঘা জমিতে গ্রিন লেডি জাতের পেঁপে, আলু, আদা, শিম, বরবটি, মুলা, বেগুন, মরিচ, পেঁয়াজ, রসুন, ওলকচু, ধান, ভুট্টা চাষ ও মাছ চাষ করেন। নিয়মিত ৪ জন এবং মৌসুমে ১২–১৫ জন শ্রমিক কাজ করেন। ২০১৬ সালে সিটি ফাউন্ডেশনের ক্ষুদ্র উদ্যোক্তা পুরস্কার পান; এলাকায় কম কীটনাশক ব্যবহারে কৃষকদের উৎসাহ দেন।
