Golam Rabbi's Carpet Grass

About

Golam Rabbi, a young man from Puranbazar Loharpul in Chandpur town, learned to grow lawn carpet grass during about seven years in Bahrain. Back home he rented about 40 decimals of abandoned land at Bahoria Dokanghar in Sadar and began growing the ornamental grass on a trial basis; as it proved profitable, it is now grown at four sites there on about five acres. The grass is used to beautify home and office yards and gardens. He promotes it on social media and sells online across the country, delivering with his own people when needed. The project employs 30–40 people. The Munshiganj deputy commissioner's bungalow and land office bought 4,000 sq ft from him at Tk 80 per sq ft.
