About
Jayhun Dairy Shop at Laboni crossing in Satkhira town is known for new, Dhaka-style sweets. Owner Kamrul Hasan studied law at Rajshahi University and went to the UK for the Bar; returning after five years, he set up a dairy farm in 2010 and supplied milk to sweet shops. Having liked the sweets of craftsman Mohsin Bhuiyan in Dhaka, he brought him to Satkhira in 2017, and the shop was founded with his work. The sweet kitchen is on the ground floor of the owner's house at Palashpol in town, with the shop's own cows beside it; sweets are made from their own cows' milk and milk from a few local farms. Twelve assistants work with the head craftsman. The owner says they were the first in Khulna division to bring Irani Delight, saffron sweets and chhana pastry. In 2018 the craftsman, then on leave, was flown to Satkhira to fill one customer's 50 kg order. There are two sales outlets in Khulna and one in Satkhira; in 2021 Kamrul Hasan received the district's best taxpayer award.
