About
At Aramberia Bazar in Ishurdi upazila, Pabna, Kori Pal and his three brothers Sukumar Pal, Harekrishna Pal and Montu Pal have run a single sweet shop together for four decades. The shop has no signboard and is known locally as 'Kori Pal's sweet shop'. Their father Gopinath Pal first sold only tea here; the brothers made sweets at home and sold them at village markets, and after their father's death they began selling sweets permanently from the tea shop. Kori Pal opens the shop in the morning, Montu Pal fries parathas, and Sukumar and Harekrishna serve customers, helped by two or three employees. Their curd (doi) has to be ordered in advance; they make only as much as is booked, as they cannot get enough milk to make more. All kinds of sweets are sold, with white sweets at Tk 260 a kg. Most orders for local functions come to this shop, and regular customers buy curd and sweets here before visiting relatives.
