About
Masum Billah (18), son of Mahmud Ali and Mahfuza Begum of Kachinia village in Khansama upazila of Dinajpur, is a class 12 student at Kachinia School and College. After watching a strawberry-growing video on YouTube and talking it over with his parents, in the first week of January 2025 he brought 400 seedlings from Joypurhat at Tk 12 each and planted them on 10 decimals of family land in Chakkanchan village of Bhabki union. Seedlings and care cost Tk 20,000-25,000. Each plant has yielded about 800 grams; he has sold about Tk 45,000 worth so far and expects to sell about Tk 90,000 in all. Neighbours come to the field to buy, and his strawberries have found strong demand in Saidpur municipality in Nilphamari, where he sells them. He hopes to grow them commercially on a larger scale.
