Nature's Touch is the plant business of Sharmin Akter and her husband Jahangir Alam, run from the rooftop of their three-storey house in the Mohonpur area of Ward 30, Rajshahi city. Sharmin, who holds a BBA and MBA from Rajshahi University, began keeping plants on her hall balcony; after years of trouble over plants in rented flats, the couple built a house with the plants in mind and moved in in January 2022. The garden has over 200 varieties of adenium, over 60 of aglaonema, over 65 orchids, about 100 succulents, over 100 snake plants and over 50 cacti, plus bonsai, monstera and fruit and vegetable plants. Plants are sold online through its Facebook page and offline; sales average over Tk 1 lakh a month, and about Tk 3 lakh worth was sold in August. Eight to ten people help at different times and two are on regular salary. Many people ask Sharmin for advice on sick plants, and some call her the 'plant doctor'. She won first place nationally in the rooftop garden category of the National Tree Plantation Award 2025. A roadside sales point with pots, fertiliser and garden supplies is being prepared.
