About
Farmer Soleman of the Gajni area, Jhenaigati, Sherpur, has 200 cashew trees on 50 decimals, part of the agriculture department's pilot for cashew on the Garo hills. The trees first flowered last year, and in 2023 the nuts began to ripen. He has spent about Tk 10 lakh over three years. From next year he expects 15–20 kg of nuts per tree, which he says can sell at Tk 800–1,000 a kg. Agri-entrepreneurs and young people come to see the garden.
