About
Sufia Begum of South Balia village, North Dighaldi union, Bhola, set up a deshi chicken and pigeon farm around 2021 after training with the NGO Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha (GJUS). At the end of 2022 the farm had 30 pairs of pigeons and 350 grown chickens, and she said it returns a 35-40 percent profit overall. Her husband Giasuddin Masud is a government primary school teacher. The report says about 1,500 farmers in Bhola Sadar and Doulatkhan raise deshi chickens in their yards, feeding local wheat and rice, vegetables and black soldier fly larvae to keep the meat's flavour.
