About
Zakir Hawlader owns a herd (bathan) of 95 buffalo on Char Boiragia in Bhola. His grandfather kept it, then his uncle, and now he runs it. He says buffalo used to die of minor illnesses, but deworming and vaccines have cut losses, and higher meat and milk prices have raised profits. He has bought about 5 acres of land from buffalo rearing and wants to keep more.
