Md. Yunus Mia's family keeps a herd (bathan) of about 250 buffalo on Madanpur char in Doulatkhan upazila, Bhola, as they have for four generations. The herd gives 130-150 kg of milk a day. On Bhola's chars buffalo have been grazed in such herds for about two hundred years, and their milk and raw-milk doi supply the district and many others. Local doi sellers said in 2024 that a 1.5 kg pot of doi sold for Tk 250 and a 2 kg pot for Tk 300.
