She started at home in 2023 with 10,000 taka and 50 spawn packets; 400 packets now give 5-6 kg a day, 40,000-45,000 taka of monthly sales and 25,000-30,000 taka of net income.

This housewife and mother of two from Singsara village in Atrai, Naogaon, was inspired by a video about mushroom cultivation and started inside her own home in 2023 with 10,000 taka and 50 spawn packets. She took training from the local agriculture extension office and built up to 400 packets, now harvesting 5 to 6 kg a day. A packet is ready to crop within 30 to 34 days, so the money turns over fast. Fresh mushrooms go wholesale at 300 taka a kg, and she dries part of the crop to sell at 2,000 taka a kg. Monthly sales run 40,000 to 45,000 taka, leaving 25,000 to 30,000 after costs. Summer heat halts production for three to four months a year, so the monsoon and winter are her working seasons, and others in the village have since taken up mushrooms too.
