6,000 guava trees on 36 bighas, and 1.5 crore taka of sales a year

He first tried guava in 2015 and expanded seriously from 2018. Thirty-six bighas now carry about 6,000 bearing trees at 1.5 maunds each a year, giving 1.5 crore taka of guava sales and over 1 crore of net profit.

This farmer from Bhobanitek village in Madhupur, Tangail, finished an MA in social welfare and went into farming, planting guava for the first time in 2015. The first attempt was weak; he then went to Rajshahi to study how established growers worked, and expanded seriously from 2018. He now has 36 bighas of guava with about 6,000 bearing trees, each giving around 1.5 maunds a year. Plants fruit within seven to eight months and reach full production inside a year and a half. Guava alone brings about 1.5 crore taka of sales a year and over 1 crore in net profit. On the same estate he also runs 120 bighas of pineapple, 30 of banana, 25 of rice, 17 of corn, 6 of mulberry and 3 of coffee.

  2. 2.Guava starts paying inside a year, much sooner than mango or malta, so it can carry the cash flow for slower crops planted alongside
