About
Habibul Bahar Sujan runs an integrated farm of about 60 acres at Betbari, Fulbaria, Mymensingh. Starting with 30 layers and 500 broilers, he now keeps 25,000–30,000 chickens, including 15,000 layers that give about 13,000 eggs a day. He farms fish in 19 ponds, producing 800–850 tonnes a year; tengra, shing and magur pay best. He also grows papaya on the pond banks, keeps a modern duck unit on a bamboo platform over a pond, and has started a cattle farm with 10–12 cows. He says feed prices rose 88–123 percent in two years, cutting profits.
