About
Laili Begum of Sripur Madhyapara village in Kakrajan union, Sakhipur Upazila, Tangail, has succeeded with the upazila's first coloured cauliflower. Along with 1,000 yellow and 400 purple seedlings given on trial by an agriculture department project, she planted 1,200 white cauliflowers on 30 decimals beside her house on 15 November 2022, and heads came within two months. It cost Tk 7,000; in the first 15 days she sold Tk 20,000 worth and hopes for Tk 10,000 more. Her husband Mominul Islam sells each coloured head at Tk 50-60 at market, against Tk 20-30 for white, and they sell out quickly. People come from nearby villages to see the field, and many buy straight from it.
