About
Shahidul Islam, a farmer of Niyogi Joair village in Gharinda union, Tangail Sadar, has succeeded with coloured cauliflower on his first try. With seedlings from an agriculture department project, he planted 2,000 yellow and purple cauliflower seedlings on 15 decimals on 10 November 2023, and the heads came in two to two and a half months. It cost him Tk 10,000-12,000 and he hopes to sell Tk 1.5 lakh worth. Coloured cauliflower sells at Tk 70-80 each and goes as soon as it reaches the market; wholesalers also buy straight from the field. People from nearby villages come to see the field, and many buy cauliflower there.
