About
Ripon Mia (28) of Baruria village in Gopalpur Upazila, Tangail, left a private-sector job two years ago and, with seven friends, started Seven Star Agro Farm, growing cauliflower, cucumber, snake gourd and sweet pumpkin on four acres. In the 2024 season he brought 2,000 coloured cauliflower seedlings from Jamalpur through the upazila agriculture officer and grew purple and yellow heads alongside white ones on 20 decimals, spending Tk 12,000 on irrigation, transport and fertiliser. Each head weighs 1.5 to 2 kg and sells at Tk 70-80 a kg, and he expects sales of over Tk 1 lakh. Five or six village women work on the farm every day, and the produce is sold at wholesale depots in Dhanbari and Madhupur. Farmers come from far away to see the new cauliflower.
