About
Mishti Mela is a sweet shop in Kalapara town, Patuakhali, run by Nasrin Jahan, owner of Nasrin Dairy Farm. Because it was hard to sell her farm's 200–400 litres of milk a day in the local market and much of it was going to waste, she planned a sweet shop. Before opening it she trained in sweet making with a private organisation in 2014. She first opened the shop in the Kuakata tourist area, but poor roads at the time made it hard to carry sweets there from Kalapara, so she moved the shop to Kalapara town. It is now known as one of the town's upmarket sweet shops. It sells rasgolla, kanchagolla, kalojam, rasmalai, kheermalai, baby sweets, red and white chomchom, tasni chop, patishapta, chhana, curd and ghee. Nasrin now also trains others in sweet making. Milk and sweets together bring her sales of about Tk 8 lakh a month.
