About
Mobarak Hossain, a seedling grower in Someshpur, the 'vegetable seedling village' of Burichang upazila, Cumilla, raised various vegetable seedlings on 82 decimals this season. Raising starts in early August when prices are good, but a sudden flood cost him about Tk 10 lakh, so he is now raising more seedlings to recover. Buyers crowd his plots; a buyer from Ghosherkandi in Titas has bought here for 13 years and this time took 10,000 cauliflower seedlings at Tk 1,000 per thousand. Farmers from Chattogram, Noakhali, Feni, Chandpur, Sylhet and other districts come to the village for seedlings.
