About
Ankur is a restaurant of organic food prepared in healthy ways. Behind it is farmer Helal Hedayetul Islam, who began natural farming for his own and his family's health; seeing buyers lose the benefit of his vegetables by cooking them the wrong way, he decided to open a restaurant. Its cooking, developed over more than a year and a half of trials, uses no oil, sugar, refined flour or white salt, and most dishes are boiled or lightly processed. Vegetables come from land free of chemical fertiliser and pesticide — winter vegetables, little-known greens, even purple sweet potato — and the kitchen is managed by Nahid Parvin. Smoothies are made with their own yoghurt and probiotics. Under nutritionist Shahid Ahmed, meals are delivered to patients at home, with special meals for cancer patients, and there is regular delivery to Badda, Gulshan and nearby areas. It is open every day from morning to night, and yoga teacher Ashis Adhikari runs yoga sessions two mornings a week.
