Kichukkhon Restaurant, in a green-painted room in a lane off Satish Sarkar Road, Gendaria, Old Dhaka, was founded in 1978. Founder Narayan Chandra Ghosh loved the arts; large framed portraits of Uttam Kumar, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and others hang inside. Writers and artists such as Akhtaruzzaman Elias, Kayes Ahmed and Fakir Alamgir were regulars. The soup recipe of its first cook (1979), Bimal D'Costa, is still used: a whole egg and chicken mince in every bowl. Chops, cutlets, moglai and chicken fry cost Tk 10–75. It seats 10–15 people, and the crowd builds from late afternoon.
